Improving The Wiki

The Wiki can be changed as needed. Different URL, main page structure, meeting nomenclature, confirmEdit questions, the structure of these project pages, etc.

As it stands now, no one needs an account to edit the site. If vandalism becomes a problem that may have to change. I do encourage anyone participating to create an account. It will make looking at the change history easier and contribute to developing an identity in the community.

If this works out, let's see about getting it a better URL for this site. This is just an old URL I had laying around. A better one would be something like wiki.siouxfallstoollibrary.com. We can also move this to a different server. The site is being hosted on a Linode of mine and I think it would be better on a Raspberry Pi actually in the library.

In addition to that, check out the [[Wiki How-To]] page for tips on making edits and add your own if you have to look up on the internet how to do something. Feel free to add some new projects that you think we can all work on together.

* open sign/light.
** i have been writing "i assure you, we're open" on a piece of tape and putting in on the door when I'm there.
* get a new three-way switch for next to the basement entrance.
** i '''think''' the switch next to the door is bad. it looks like power comes into the top of the switch, but then power is going down both of the travelers. the travelers go to the switch at the top of the stairs. that switch looks like a one-way switch but should probably be a four-way. when i opened up the boxes, i didn't actually pull the switches out. i just looked around the edges of them so i didn't get a real good look. inside the box at the top of the stairs, it looks like it is wired up as a simple "power going in, switch leg coming out" setup. in the j-box below the upstairs light switch, there are 4 yellow wires going up to the switch. i think this implies there should be a 4-way switch up there. what i think happened is the three-way switch next to the door went bad, whoever tried fixing it didn't have a new one to replace it, but did have a one-way switch and just replaced the four-way at the top of the stairs with it as a temporary bandaid but never got back to finish the job.
* get some kitty litter for oil spills.
* get the fire extinguishers checked out and mounted around the space.
* get some kneeling pads.
* clean the bathroom.
** i know. yuck.
* mount mirror in the bathroom.
** it is behind the door right now.
* get some sort of motion sensor so people can see the path to the light switch.
** it would probably need a light sensor too so it doesn't turn on when the lights are actually on.
* make some advertisements for getting the word out.
* figure out a criteria for getting those sponsored memberships out.
* figure out a way of checking if someone has been trained to checkout the more dangerous items.
* come up with a naming convention for locations.
* maybe come up with a new way of inventory-ing things.
* investigate barcode systems.
** find a cheap bar code reader/printer.
** check with the slug group to see if anyone has one.
* get some head lamps
* get a coffee maker

== General Help ==
To edit a page, click the "Edit" button near the Page Title. This will open a text area with the page's source text. This can then be modified and when finished, a summary can be added and the "save changes" button can be pressed to save the changes. These can be found below the Edit Text Area.

== Categories ==

To add a page or uploaded file to a category, simply edit the page and add the following text (where Project is the name of the category you want to add it to).

To create a link to a category, use a leading colon before the category name (without this colon, the current page would be added to the category):
